Renaissance music is coming to life again in our Early Music Youth Academy! One cohort of students grew up playing this repertoire together for six years beginning in 2014, developing a remarkable level of cohesion and fluency. On the lute, harp, viola da gamba, violin, and recorder, sometimes with guest vocal soloists, that group performed at the Berkeley Festival of Early Music, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Public Library as part of the Shakespeare's First Folio exhibit, and at Benaroya's Nordstrom Recital Hall as an opener for the Baltimore Consort.

Post-pandemic, SHAK has been delighted to welcome a new crop of young players on viola da gamba, recorder, and violin to discover the joys of consort playing.
