EMYA and SED: Courtly Dance and Music of Renaissance Italy

Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, Seattle WA

SHAK's Early Music Youth Academy teams up with special guests -- the elegantly costumed folk of Seattle Early Dance -- to present courtly dances of the Renaissance. Graceful choreographies reconstructed and taught by Anna Mansbridge meet the elegant sounds of our skilled teen musicians on instruments of the time including viols, violins, and harp. In our instrumental set, we treat you to delectable consorts by Jewish composers active in Italy in this era: Salamone Rossi, composer to the Duke of Mantua, and Joseph Lupo, who played for Queen Elizabeth I of England for more than 40 years. Appropriate for all ages, this program lasts about an hour. Advance ticket purchase is recommended ($12/adult, $8/youth).
