Merry It Is!: A Ten-Year Anniversary Concert for Families

Good Shepherd Chapel in Wallingford, 4th floor, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, Seattle WA

In 2010, Seattle Historical Arts for Kids released Merry It Is!: Songs & Dances of the 13th-18th Centuries, an acclaimed studio album of singable kid-tested songs and instrumental dances from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and American Colonial eras. Your family is invited to discover the delights of this repertoire for yourself!

Help us celebrate the tenth anniversary of this collection in a special community concert -- with a chance to sing along. Our current students aged 7-14 take the stage to sing these timeless melodies in gorgeous historical costume, joined by some of skilled teen instrumentalists and vocal soloists. SHAK founder Shulamit Kleinerman leads on the medieval fiddle and early violin, with returning guest artist Jacob Breedlove on recorder, viol, percussion, and the ever-popular hurdy-gurdy.

This all-ages event lasts about an hour, followed by a reception with tea, cookies, and birthday cake.

Admission to SHAK events is by free-will donation -- please come and enjoy these performances, whatever your means. Any amount you choose to pay helps us offset the expense of producing these rich and unique educational programs. Suggested donation: $10-15 per adult or $15-25 per family, online in advance or cash/check at the door.
