Recorder from the Ground Up… SHAK's own recorder curriculum!
Our beginning recorder curriculum combines kid-optimized by-ear learning with real music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras, when the recorder particularly flourished.
Created by Miyo Aoki, Recorder from the Ground Up has already been used with over 700 students in public school classrooms and private music studios — all over the US and as far away as Canada and even Iceland!
We're publishing the curriculum in book form, to launch this June. It's already in use in our school outreach programs and our own afterschool classes.
