Our teaching artists in your classroom or music studio
SHAK's teaching artists have shared historical arts with over 5,000 students in more than 15 local public and private schools!
We are passionate about how the arts help all students find their strengths and connect more thoughtfully with multiple aspects of human history.
And we're always excited to share with music students the joys of repertoire that stands the test of time.

- Hands-on introduction to the viola da gamba and/or Baroque strings (flexible number of visits) — available for middle school music programs AND private string teachers
- Introducing life in the Middle Ages & Renaissance through music (usually 1-2 classroom visits featuring performance and Q&A) — available for middle school history/social studies classrooms

Funding
Fully-funded visits are available on a first-come-first-served basis, thanks to the generosity of our donors!
We also offer 50% subsidized visits if you are able to cover part of the cost.
Our specialty is selecting actual material from each period that also passes the test of engaging young people today. Our artists are skilled in recreating the arts of the European Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras of Europe and the Colonial and Revolutionary eras of America. We can often tailor our material to specific ages and topics — don't hesitate to ask!
